About Andrew
Geelong Counsellor and Therapist
“I help people feel more understood, more connected and more grounded in themselves and their relationships.”
My name is Andrew. I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in men’s and couples’ therapy. I work with people who feel stuck, disconnected or under pressure, whether that shows up through stress, conflict in relationships, emotional shutdown, overthinking, withdrawal or a sense that something in life no longer feels quite right.
For many people, these struggles do not always look like traditional mental health concerns. They often appear quietly in everyday life: at work, at home, in relationships or in the pressure of trying to hold everything together on your own. Therapy offers a space to slow things down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface and begin finding a clearer way forward.
From the outset, I take a calm, straightforward and collaborative approach. We work together to understand what's happening, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical ways to move forward. I believe therapy works best when there is trust, honesty and mutual respect, because meaningful change grows through a relationship where people feel safe enough to speak openly and explore what is really going on.
My work draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, attachment-informed and Emotion Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, psychodynamic and existential therapies. These approaches help guide the process, but the focus is always on what is most useful, relevant and important for you and your circumstances.
I aim to offer a space that feels grounded, thoughtful and free from judgement. A place where you do not need to perform, defend yourself or have all the answers. Together, we work toward greater clarity, stronger relationships and a deeper sense of connection, direction and confidence in your life.

We do suggest that new clients schedule a minimum of three appointments, ideally spaced fortnightly whenever feasible. This approach is designed to maintain continuity of care, minimise extended intervals between appointments, and facilitate the establishment of a strong rapport between clients and their therapist.
Research consistently indicates that most clients typically need 10 or more sessions to attain their treatment goals and desired outcomes. However, if you find that you don't need or desire sessions, appointments can be readily cancelled, provided that the cancellation policy is followed.
Your practitioner is open to discussing the number and scheduling of appointments. This will be based on your counsellor’s professional judgement, considering your individual circumstances, needs, and goals. It's important to note that predicting a person's response to treatment and the exact number of sessions required can be challenging in many instances.
